Timed Labs and Workshops:

  • 11:00am– Chomping Sharkey Lab
    Learning Lab – Come join us as we combine electronics and laser-cut materials to assemble our very own chomping shark. (This lab is free, but has limited seating. Must sign up ahead of scheduled time at the Faire. Ages 6 & up)
  • 2:00pm & 3:00pm – Laser Engraving Lab
    Stiles-Nicholson STEM Education Center – Come join us as we use our Glowforge Laser Cutter to create a custom coaster of your design. (This lab is free, but has limited seating. Must sign up ahead of scheduled time at the Faire. Ages 8 & up)

Timed Presentations:

  • 10:30am11:30am, 12:30pm & 1:30pm- Indoor Theater
    Learn how to prepare for a hurricane with First Warning Meteorologists, Vanessa Vinent and Cris Martinez from WPBF News Channel 25! This presentation come with a free giveaway to make your very own tornado in a bottle. (Limited seating. First come, first serve)
  • 11:00am– Throughout Science Center
    A little mystery magic around the Faire from Merlin the Magician. Pay close attention to learn the magic behind the trick! Find Merlin throughout the Science Center.
  • 11:00am12:00pm Stiles Nicholson STEM Education Center
    We invite guests to check out innovative projects from local student teams that have worked together for the better good in our STEM Inventor’s Challenge. The students will be around to share what they learned about emerging technologies and their process for developing their useful invention.
  • 12:00pm– Outdoor Amphitheater  
    Join the Science Center for a Liquid Nitrogen Science Experiment on our outdoor Amphitheater.
  • 12:30pm1:00pmOutdoor Science Trail   
    Introducing Spot:The World’s Most Advanced Quadrupedal Robot!
    Joshua Albert, from the Data Science team at Levatas, will walk through a brief presentation of the robot, its specifications and its capabilities. This will include a robotic demonstration and interactive Q&A session.

  • *Cavebot Painting with Bristlebot Workshop    
    Science on a Sphere – Make a small robot artist that paints a 4″x4″ canvas. Keep the bristlebot & canvas as a souvenir! Also see Vyd’s “cavebot” paintings with built-in UV LEDs and comicbook collage. This workshop has a $5 fee. All ages are welcome.
  • Sopourn Art Studio Activity  
    Main Hall Exhibit – Sopourn Art Studio (SAS) will be hosting a live clay experience for kids and adults alike to participate in. All ages are welcome.
  • *Upcycle Free Build Workshop    
    Everglades Exhibit – Join Resource Depot in using your creative brain to upcycle everyday items into something fun! Come make a monster, sea creature, house, or city! Take some upcycled magic home with you by purchasing one of our STEAM or Art kits! This workshop has a fee ranging from $5-$15. All ages are welcome.
  • Solar Boats and Thermal Management Devices Activity   
    Physics Forest – Get hands-on play with toy solar boats, a Stirling engine, and heat pipes. Powered only by photo-voltaic panels, these vessels demonstrate creativity, STEM principles, and an environmental sustainability theme for watercraft design. All ages are welcome.
  • Boca Robotics (Radio Controlled Cars) Activity
    Physics Forest – Radio Control Cars are fun, fast, and educational! Learn how they are made, driven, and repaired. Children can operate a machine, build fine motor skills with hand-eye coordination. We show both 3D printed and hobby grade cars to test drive. All ages are welcome.
  • WOOD.PAPER.GLASS Activity   
    Physics Forest – WOOD.PAPER.GLASS is a make-and-take art studio in Wellington, stop by our booth at the Maker Faire to create your own seashell necklace or sand art jar or canvas, or make both! $12 each, fun for kids and adults!
